Crash victim ID’d as Vail man

VAIL ” Authorities have identified the victim of a fatal crash that happened Tuesday on Highway 24.

Leonel Alvarez-Almarez of Vail died after the Honda Civic he was driving collided with a Ford pickup truck near Tennessee Pass.

The pickup was trying to pass a car on a double-yellow line when it hit the Honda, said Sgt. Shawn Olmstead of the Colorado State Patrol.

Charges may be filed against the driver of the pickup, Olmstead said. The investigation in ongoing.
