Crews douse two other fires

Burning Mountain Fire Protection District had a busy day on Wednesday. While assisting in fighting the New Castle Fire, east of town, they responded to a structure fire and burning RV as well.Fire Chief Brit McLin said that they’ve been so busy that he hadn’t seen reports of those two fires as of Thursday morning. “I’ve been on the fire line for three days,” he said.The structure fire occurred at the Apple Tree Mobile Home Park, across Interstate 70 from New Castle. A recreational vehicle caught fire in an RV park southeast of Silt, on the south side of the Colorado River.Both fires occurred Thursday. The extent of the damage was unknown.”There was smoke and water damage,” McLin said of the Apple Tree Park home. No injuries or fatalities were reported in either of the fires. The causes of both are still to be determined.Glenwood Springs, CO Colorado
