The Glenwood Springs Fire Department responded Tuesday morning to a single-structure fire at an apartment building in West Glenwood on Mel Rey Road.

The call came in at approximately 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, and the fire was contained to a futon mattress in an upstairs bedroom that was quickly extinguished, according to Glenwood Springs Fire Chief Gary Tillotson.

A cause was not immediately known, but it did not appear to be intentional, he said. No one was home at the time, and there were no injuries, Tillotson said.
