Crime Stoppers: Info sought on illegal dumping of hazardous materials

RIFLE, Colorado – The Colorado State Patrol and Crime Stoppers of Garfield County are searching for information about an environmental crime.

Sometime on the night of Jan. 11, an estimated 1,000 gallons of crude oil was illegally dumped near Webster Hill, at mile marker 86 on Highway 6, west of Rifle.

In addition to the substantial cost to taxpayers to clean up the site, illegal dumping like this harms the environment.

Garfield County Crime Stoppers is seeking information that will lead to the arrest or indictment of the suspect or suspects involved in this crime.

Remain anonymous and earn up to $1,000 by calling 945-0101 or visiting http://www.garcocrimestoppers.com and clicking the “Report a Tip” tab.
