A Google Maps image pinpoints the location of a forced plane landing in the Devil's Causeway area of the Flat Tops west of Toponas.

A successful rescue effort was completed this afternoon involving two parties after a small plane made a forced landing in the Flat Tops several miles north of Glenwood Springs near the Devil’s Causeway/McGinnis Lake area.

As of 1:50 p.m., the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office reported that a single helicopter had arrived and was able to pick up the two people who were on the plane and survived the crash landing.

The plane went down at approximately 12:15 p.m. Classic Air was alerted and made its way to the scene. Two persons were in the plane alive and talking with other aircraft in the area.

The cause of the forced landing is not known at this time. This story will be updated as more details become available.
