CRMS claims regional climbing championship

CARBONDALE, Colorado – The Colorado Rocky Mountain School boys and girls climbing teams both emerged from the Feb. 9 regional championships in Grand Junction as the top teams.
“The competition was fierce, with 113 competitors from 11 Western Slope high schools vying for coveted invitations to the state championship,” according to a CRMS press release.
CRMS’s strong showing was led by Karla Vlatkovic, who won the overall girls division. She was backed by senior Lea Linse and junior Libby Kasmer who tied for sixth.
Also for the girls, Cleo Ulatowski was eighth, Cheyenne Peterman was ninth, Lexi Smith was 10th, and Mollie Podmore was 12th.
The CRMS boys were led by Sammy Martin in second place, Nikken Daniels in fourth and Luc Browning in fifth.
The varsity squad at state will be rounded out by Jamison Orr in ninth, Jackson Carter, 15th, and Vladimir Funes in 16th.
