Curry takes job with Created Butte arts center

Former state representative Kathleen Curry has landed a job as the new executive director for the Mount Crested Butte Performing Arts Center, according to a statement from Curry.

Curry, of Gunnison, represented District 61, including parts of Garfield County, from 2004 to 2010, in the Colorado General Assembly.

She lost her bid for re-election last year after she quit the Democratic party to become an independent, and then had to run a write-in campaign due to the state’s election regulations.

The arts center is now in the development and pre-construction phase. Curry will be working with another new appointee, David Clayton, who is the chair of the capital campaign for the fledgling organization.
