CVRG not opposed to development

Dear Editor,

This letter is in response to Jerry Gamba’s letter of June 16.

Jerry, you are missing the message of CVRG. We are not opposed to development. What we oppose is the city’s ignoring the comprehensive plan and the urban growth boundary without seeking a public vote. This current election is only the result of CVRG’s collection of over 1,000 signatures (700-plus city) of voters who oppose Red Feather Ridge.

Obviously, a lot of people think growth should be confined to the city’s current boundary.

Glenwood has yet to see the impacts of a full build out of Cardiff Glen (affordable housing), Park East and Glenwood Meadows, all within the confines of the city. There’s also a new affordable unit planned for Midland and Cowdin and there’s a current surplus of affordable homes within Glenwood.

Citizens of Glenwood: Ask yourselves if you want to be taxed for building trails, a cemetery, a park, ballfields, water-pumping costs, and sewer, so that MidFirst Bank can make a huge profit.

Most importantly, the city has an obligation to build an alternate route to Highway 82 in case of fire. Those of us living up Four Mile are at risk even without traffic from RFR in the event of an emergency evacuation.

Please vote “no” on RFR.

Respectfully,

Karen Foster
