Czech Chamber Orchestra to perform

The Glenwood Springs Community Concert Association will host the Brno Chamber Soloists, a chamber orchestra from the Czech Republic, at 7 p.m. Sunday in the Glenwood Springs High School auditorium. Admission is by membership ticket only.The Brno Chamber Soloists make their North American debut this fall with their appearance here as part of a 17-concert Midwestern tour. Appearing with the 12-member string ensemble from Brno will be Japanese-born and American-trained pianist Michiko Otaki and cellist Jan Skrdik, a native of the Czech Republic who teaches at the Janacek Academy in Brno. Otaki is head of the keyboard department at Clayton College and State University in Atlanta. The program will be classical in nature, featuring primarily compositions by eastern European composers.
