Dale B. Downer

Dale B. Downer of Grand Junction and formerly of West Covina, Calif., died Monday, March 17, 2003. He was 83.

Mr. Downer was born Sept. 21, 1919, in Omaha, Neb., to Worth L. and Hazel Burton Downer.

In November 1941, he entered the U.S. Army, serving his country during World War II at the rank of sergeant until his honorable discharge on Nov. 29, 1945.



On July 30, 1949, he married Marion Shirley Pringle in Alhambra, Calif. Mrs. Downer survives in the family home.

A finish carpenter throughout his life, he enjoyed spending time outdoors and various sports. He was a Jehovah’s Witness and a member of the Loyal Order of Moose.



Mr. Downer is survived by his wife, Marion Downer, of Grand Junction; by daughter and son-in-law Dee and Dan Hubbard of Carbondale; by sister Virginia Berg of Post Falls, Idaho; and by one grandson and two great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Dorothy and Jeanette, and Mr. Downer’s parents preceded him in death.

Funeral services are being held Thursday, March 20, at the Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado in Grand Junction.

Cochran Memorial Chapel of Meeker is in charge of arrangements.
