Dan Wayne Smith of Carbondale, 55, died on Sept. 6, 2004, on Ruedi Reservoir.There will be a memorial service at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10, at the Farnum-Holt Funeral Home Chapel, 405 W. Seventh St. in Glenwood Springs.He was the owner and operator of American Plumbing and Heating. He was a Carbondale resident for more than 18 years, and also lived in Aspen and Oklahoma.He was born March 24, 1949, in Weatherford, Okla., the son of T.J. and Alene (Robinson) Smith. He spent his childhood in Oklahoma City and graduated from Putnam High School.He previously was married to Heather Smith.Mr. Smith served in the U.S. Army. He liked to rebuild houseboats and antique cars.Survivors include his parents; daughters Morgan and Melissa Smith of El Jebel; a brother, Terrald (Chris) Smith of Fort Smith, Ark.; sister Delene (Thomas) Kemp of Poteau, Okla.; and his dog, Buckwheat.The Farnum-Holt Funeral Home is in charge of services.
