Dance like everybody’s watching
This week, the Internet’s all abuzz about Britney Spears’ odd performance at Sunday night’s MTV Video Music Awards.People are ripping on everything from her hair weaves to her midsection. And there’s the rampant criticism of her off-kilter dance moves and lousy lip synching. I’m wondering if she even rehearsed.Tmz.com is calling it “Britney’s belly flop.” No mercy. But Kanye West came to her rescue, saying MTV set her up to fail, knowing she wasn’t ready to open the show a spot he would have gladly taken. He’s so thoughtful. So goes the drama coming out of Vegas and spilling over in Hollywood. Like the feud between “The Hills” star Lauren Conrad and her nemesis Heidi Montag, the gossip never ends.
And neither do really bad music careers.People can’t get enough of the drama in celebrities’ lives, which makes me wonder how well a gossip magazine would go over in Glenwood Springs. The rumors fly enough around here, so why not put them in print?I know a fella named Eddie who has already offered up his expertise to dig up the dirt.Like the New York Post’s Page Six. Without the budget.
It’s happening in New Castle to boot: Ryden Ranch Maize Maze, corn maze, 1 p.m. to dusk Fridays and 10 a.m. to dusk weekends, Ryden Ranch, 6234 County Road 226. Information: 984-2190This is why I’d kick it up here: Growing up, I loved playing in the corn. Except for the threat of that creepy red-haired Malachai kid from “Children of the Corn” lurking around. And spiders. Big, brown, scary wolf spiders. This maze isn’t as spooky and probably has a lot less arachnids. Plus it is quite educational from what I’ve heard. And don’t worry, Malachai is just a figment of our imaginations. He doesn’t really live in the corn. Or does he?
It’s happening in Carbondale to boot: White House Pizza’s 10-year Anniversary Celebration, starting at 11 a.m. with a Doggie Fashion Show and kid’s activities, pizza-eating contest at 4 p.m. and live music starts at 5 p.m. with SoulFeel. Information: 704-9400This is why I’d kick it up here: This is one serious pizza party, with contests, music and more pies than a Trivial Pursuit game. I was in a pizza-eating contest once, and unfortunately I was on the losing team. But free food is free food, even if the urge to vomit may ensue. I’ll be hanging out in Durango and traipsing around Mesa Verde all weekend, but I encourage anyone looking for a good time to head to White House Pizza for their big anniversary party. My friends from SoulFeel will rock the (White) House starting at 5 p.m. Grab a piece of the pie!Post Independent, Glenwood Springs, Colorado CO
