Daniel Dixon Thacker Jr.

Daniel Dixon Thacker Jr. of San Augustine, Texas, a former resident of Battlement Mesa, died Saturday, Sept. 13, 2003, in Nacogdoches, Texas. He was 44.

He was born Nov. 6, 1958, in Angleton, Texas, to Daniel and Lorena Hyde Thacker.

He worked as a pipefitter and welder.



He and his family lived in Battlement Mesa for 18 years, and he worked on oil shale projects.

Mr. Thacker loved hunting, singing and playing his guitar. He wrote and recorded several songs about his love for his saviour.



He was a member of Attoyac Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lorena Thacker, in 1989.

Mr. Thacker is survived by his wife of 23 years, Salena Thacker, by a son, Colton Thacker, and by a daughter, Alison Thacker, all of San Augustine, Texas; by a father and stepmother, Dan and Lillian Thacker of San Augustine; by brothers and sisters-in-law Dennis and Daisy Thacker of Tennessee, and Ben and Belinda Thacker of Angleton, Texas; by a sister and brother-in-law, Deborah and Dean Wise of Angleton, Texas; and by many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held Tuesday, Sept. 16, at the Attoyac Baptist Church. Interment followed at Attoyac Cemetery in San Augustine County, Texas.

Wyman Roberts Funeral Home of San Augustine, Texas, was in charge of arrangements.
