David Franklin Fautsko, 29, of Glenwood Springs, died Dec. 4, 2007, in an automobile accident north of Silt. He was born June 26, 1978, in Boulder, and moved to the area with his parents and brother Matthew in 1980. A 1996 graduate of Glenwood Springs High School, he was active in many school-sponsored events and played football for the Demons.In his early 20s, Dave spent five years working in South Lake Tahoe, Nev., where he taught skiing to adults and handicapped children at Heavenly Ski Resort. After returning to Glenwood in 2005, he married the love of his life, Laura Stein. They had their first child, Annabelle, or as he called her, “A-B,” Sept. 12, 2007. Dave owned Colorado Home Recyclers, and gave materials from remodels to Habitat for Humanity. As his friends knew, Dave thought he could tile the world. He was well-known and liked in the Roaring Fork Valley, and was known for always helping others. Among other interests, he loved to ski, snowmobile, raft, four-wheel on the Flat Tops, and was an avid Broncos fan. Recently, he was preparing to coach children’s ski teams at Sunlight Resort.He is survived by his wife; daughter; mother Carol Jean Kraig; father Timm Fautsko; stepmother Marianne O’Carroll; brother Matthew (Jenni) Fautsko; grandmother Ada Williams; and in-laws Ken and Maxine Stein.A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 10, at Mountain View Baptist Church, with a reception following.
