David Michael ‘Mike’ Newcomb

David Michael ‘Mike’ Newcomb died in a motorcycle accident on Saturday, Oct. 2. His wife of 28 years, Jeni, was with him.

Mike was born on St. Patrick’s Day in 1955 to Raymond E. and Mildred Joyce Newcomb.

From his early days Mike ran headlong at life. When he was little he loved to climb, swing, run and jump. As a man he loved to ski, raft, mountain bike and ride his motorcycle. He was at home in the outdoors and was always doing things in the outdoors with his family. He was strong and brave and adventurous and funny and loving. He loved his family with fierce intensity and he loved his life in the Roaring Fork Valley. Mike worked in transportation for RFTA and Snowmass Village and had many friends there.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his younger brother Randy.

He will be deeply missed by his wife, Jeni; sons, Travis, 23 and Tyler, 18; sister, numerous nieces and nephews and aunts and uncles and cousins who will remember him and miss him always.

Family and friends are welcome to attend the memorial service that will be held on Saturday, Oct. 9 at 1 p.m. at Basalt Middle School. A Celebration of Mike’s Life will be held after the memorial service with a potluck at 0941 No Name Creek Road in No Name. Donations can be made at any Alpine Bank for his children Travis and Tyler.
