David Trubert Whiddon Jr.

David T. Whiddon Jr., Glenwood Springs, passed away April 21, 2010 at St. Mary’s Hospital, he was 68.
David was born on Feb. 16, 1942 in San Angelo, TX from the union of David T. and Vernice (Burford) Whiddon Sr. After the passing of his mother, David spent his childhood between Jacksonville, FL and Senatobia, MS where he graduated high school. He served honorably in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, stationed in Guam, Newfoundland and Columbus, MS as a refueler. On June 5, 1982 David married Charilynn Williams in Clifton, CO; she survives.
David was a resident of the Glenwood Springs area since early 1970’s where he owned Glenwood Mobile Homes. He attended Sonlight Foursquare Gospel Church in Glenwood Springs and was a member of Gideons International. He enjoyed collecting and working on cars, woodworking, camping and boating on Lake Powell. Family and friends will always remember him saying he didn’t want to be a bother.
David leaves behind his wife of Charilynn, three sons; David Craig Whiddon of Alamosa, CO, Christopher Evan Whiddon of Globe, AZ and Michael James Whiddon of Glenwood Springs, CO, three daughters; Valerie Gail Whiddon and Vickie Jean Whiddon both of Denver, CO and Michelle Yvette Whiddon of Glenwood Springs, CO, a sister; Edith Anne Keeth of McRea, AR and a brother; Anderson Conley Whiddon of Jacksonville, FL, and three grandchildren; Chelsea Ann, Abigayle Rose, and Aliyah Jean.
David was preceded in death by his parents and an uncle Vernon who was his mother’s twin.
A visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m., Saturday, April 24, 2010 with services to follow at 2 p.m. at the Church of Christ, 260 Soccer Field Road, Glenwood Springs, CO 81601. Burial will take place at 11 a.m., Monday, April 26, 2010 at Olathe Cemetery, Olathe, CO.
