Decision in wings on wing street

GLENWOOD SPRINGS ” The recommended fate of the city’s “wing” street could be decided Tuesday at the last of three facilitated meetings.

The meeting is set for 6 p.m. Tuesday at Glenwood Springs City Hall.

Downtown Development Authority director John Simmons said the meeting “is probably the most important in the series” because a final recommendation likely will be made.

Area residents packed City Council Chamber during the last two meetings, both of which were facilitated by Gary Suiter of Assent Consulting.

The meetings were originally set up to decide the fate of wing street, but many more issues were discussed and brought out into the open.

But Simmons said it’s now time for residents to make up their minds about whether wing street ” a one-way street that connects northbound Grand Avenue with 7th Street on the east side of the Grand Avenue Bridge ” should remain open, or be closed and turned into a pedestrian area.

“This is the meeting that boils it down and when they’ll make a recommendation to council on what we should do with wing street,” Simmons said.
