Delbert J. Newbury
Delbert J. Newbury of Palisade died Friday, Jan. 24, 2003, at his home. He was 39.
He was born May 3, 1963, in Aspen to Patsy Jeanne Morrison and Donald Frank Newbury. He grew up in Aspen and graduated from Aspen High School in 1981.
He also lived in Texas and Louisiana. He moved to Palisade in 2001.
Mr. Newbury was a woodworker. He was also certified as an underwater welder and oilfield diver.
He enjoyed river rafting, hiking, traveling, camping, creating things with his hands, playing the guitar, mountain biking, cooking and farming.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Patsy and Don Newbury.
Mr. Newbury is survived by a brother, Don Newbury of Aspen; by a sister-in-law, Leslie Newbury of Carbondale; by sisters and brothers-in-law Su and Steve Kentz, and Mary N. and Skip Harutun, all of Carbondale; and by three nieces and three nephews.
Cremation has taken place.
A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 7, at Aspen Community Church, 200 E. Bleeker, with the Rev. Linda Arocha-Boylan officiating. A reception will follow at the Eagle’s Hall in Aspen.
Mr. Newbury’s ashes will be interred in Red Butte Cemetery in Aspen.
McLean Funeral Home in Palisade is in charge of arrangements.
