Democrat commissioner candidates maintain lead

GLENWOOD SPRINGS ” Early balloting results in Garfield County show that the two Democratic county commissioner candidates ahead.
The Garfield County Clerk and Recorder numbers show that Steve Carter, a Rifle attorney and retired county judge, is leading Mike Samson, Rifle High School’s dean of students. Carter has 7,595 votes, while Samson has 7,241.
In the other race, Stephen Bershenyi, a Glenwood Springs blacksmith/artist, is leading three-term county commissioner Republican incumbent John Martin. Bershenyi has 7,736 votes, compared to Martin’s 7,150 votes.
