Democrats lack rudder, supporters

Bob Anderson

Dear Editor,

The Democratic Party is in serious trouble, as was quite evident in their pathetic attempt at a debate among their 9 (or is it 10, I’ve lost count) presidential candidates Saturday in South Carolina. These lost souls could not even hold an impromptu discussion on the issues of the day without attacking each other. And they certainly couldn’t convince anyone why they should vote for one of them.

And where were all of their supporters? Maybe some of the leftists in this country should take up their cause. At least somebody would have been there. In fact only 60-some TV stations even covered the event and then they would only broadcast it on tape after the local news.

The Democratic Party is a rudderless ship adrift on a sea of hopeless rhetoric, and even the far left is not impressed. Of course the extremists on the far left are not supporters of the Democratic Party or, for that matter, the democratic process.

The Democratic Party is in trouble and does not stand a snowball’s chance in hell of defeating President Bush in 2004.

God bless America.
