Demon tennis team wins one, loses one on Saturday
Glenwood Springs’ girls tennis welcomed Hotchkiss and Paonia to town for a pair of Saturday matches.
The Demons defeated Paonia, 7-0, and lost to Hotchkiss, 4-3.
Against Paonia, Sarai Zilm (No. 1), Brandi Vinger (No. 2) and Morley Perrin (No. 3) all picked up singles wins.
In doubles action, Elise Metzger and Hannah Nilsson won at No. 1, Sadie Dickinson and Tessa Ebert at No. 2, Bronte Gilman and Erin Fangman at No. 3 and Flora Fischbacher and Corrine Passey at No. 4.
Against Cedaredge, Zilm and Vinger won their singles matches. Ebert and Dickinson also recorded a doubles win for the Demons.
“It was a long day, and thank goodness for JV players who weren’t afraid to jump in and play hard,” Glenwood coach Phyllis Zilm said.
