PALISADE, Colorado – The Glenwood Springs Lady Demon volleyball team was victorious in their long, hard battle against Palisade Tuesday night, taking them to five games.

Glenwood came out ready to play in the first game, beating the Bulldogs, 25-17. The time period between the first and second game was not kind to Glenwood and the Demons weren’t so fortunate the next two games, losing each by the scores of 23-25 and 13-25.

The Bulldogs wouldn’t let down, but Glenwood’s Taylor Kontour had four aces to help push the team forward and earn another win with a close score of 25-22.

A final game to 15 would determine the outcome of Tuesday’s match. Early on, Palisade fought hard to earn a five-point lead, but the Demons played to win and pushed back to come out with a final score of 15-10.

In the overall match, the Lady Demons’ stats were quite astounding.

Jenna Pearce and Kenzie Nelson-Buehler led the team in hits with 12 kills apiece. Mikaela Richardson was not far behind with nine, Laura McDermott with eight, and Taylor James adding six.

Leading the Demons in digs was Rachel Rosenberg with 34. Pearce followed with 26, Kontour put up 14 and Rachel Orosz had nine.

Kontour had the leading number of aces with five, and Nelson-Buehler finished with three. Delaney Gaddis contributed 35 setting assists.

The Lady Demons will also play at home tonight against Battle Mountain.
