Demons headed to final
GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colorado One more to go and a state title comes home to Glenwood Springs.After a third straight demolition of a Class 3A playoff opponent, the Demons will play for a state championship next Saturday.Led by quarterback Dakota Stonehouse and a spirited defense, the Demons defeated Mountain View 47-14 on Saturday in front of over 2,300 fans at Stubler Memorial Field.No. 1-ranked Glenwood will face Fort Morgan on Saturday at Legacy Field in Aurora. Both teams are 13-0 and ended the regular season as the No. 1 and No. 2 ranked teams in Class 3A. Fort Morgan defeated DEvelyn 42-24 to advance to the title game.Stonehouse passed for 235 yards and two touchdowns, and ran for two more scores. Running back Michael Hudson ran for one score and caught a 21-yard screen pass for a TD. Kevin Screen caught a 57-yard TD pass to push the Demons lead to 24-6 at halftime.On defense, Glenwood held Mountain View in check and chipped in with a score on a 22-yard inception return for a touchdown by Nick Ciani.Glenwood has dominated in its three playoff games beating Roosevelt 52-10 and Berthoud 50-39 in the first two rounds.The Demons have won 13 straight games since they were ousted by Sterling in the first round of last years playoffs. Every playoff team the Demons have played this year and last, have come from the Tri-Valley Conference. And if they are to win a state title, the Demons will have to beat Fort Morgan, the Tri-Valley Conference champions.Saturdays game will be at 2:30 p.m.
