Deskins’ sentence already too lenient

Dear Editor,

Regarding Theresa Hamilton’s story in the Sunday, April 28, paper about Gerald Deskins trying to get an overturn on his 1993 conviction. Theresa, you headlined your story as “Killer seeks to overturn convictions.”

Killer is right. This man took the lives of three children and destroyed the lives of two families. Must we forget this tragic day and set free a person who had a history of criminal misbehavior? This man deservingly was sentenced to life in prison, a sentence in my opinion that was in no comparison to the crime that was committed. It’s a shame to taxpayers that this person has another scheduled hearing in July. If Colorado were Texas, this person would now be lying under six feet of dirt.

Shame on you, Mark Rubinstein, attorney at law, or any other attorney who would take the case for this child killer. He has tried to have his conviction overturned several times before to no avail, so leave this scumbag to live out the rest of his life away from society.

I know that some of you out there reading this will disagree with my opinion and believe that he should be able to have the right to be heard if any of his rights were violated. Well, he had a fair trial. He was the intoxicated driver behind the wheel that fateful day. He was arrested on the scene with eyewitnesses present.
