Devena Vogel Swan

Devena Vogel Swan died June 6, 2005, in Lake Havasu City, Ariz.She was born Nov. 19, 1914, to Henry and Ann Vogel.Devena married Max M. Swan on Nov. 10, 1932, in Sterling. Devena moved to the Roaring Fork Valley in March 1956 from Lincoln, Neb., with her husband and her only daughter, Karen Swan Bogue. Devena and Max enjoyed many years as proprietors of the Snowmass Cottages in Old Snowmass. They later moved to Glenwood Springs and enjoyed life on the golf course and time with their family. They spent early retirement years in Albuquerque, N.M., Awautooki, Ariz., Salt Lake City and finally returned to Grand Junction. She was a loving grandmother. Devena will be missed by many people.She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Ronald Bogue; grandchildren Scott and Robin Bogue, Candace and Mark Workman, Maureen and Dean Pesci, Jordan and Dana Bogue, and Kirk and Elizabeth Bogue; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one nephew.She was preceded in death by her husband, Max M. Swan.Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, at the Elmwood Cemetery in Fruita.
