Do you want bigger or better up Four Mile?

Dear Editor,

Bigger vs. Better – Glenwood City Council must soon decide whether to annex (extending the Urban Growth Boundary) Red Feather Ridge (the development formerly known as Four Mile Ranch).

Do the citizens of Glenwood Springs want to pay (and you will) for extension of dense bedroom housing areas up Four Mile Road? Do you want a bigger, more sprawling Glenwood Springs? If so, don’t show up at the Council meeting tonight.

Do you want to have rural and semi-rural areas around Glenwood Springs, areas that provide scenic getaways and less dense packed housing? If so, find some way to let the council know that bigger is not necessarily better. The best way is to come to the meeting and say Glenwood does not need to extend up Four Mile Road.

Much is being made of the affordable housing component of the development. Glenwood Meadows will provide a much larger component of housing in general and also affordable housing. Glenwood Meadows is inside the Urban Growth Boundary and much more centrally located. Why does Glenwood need Four Mile? The logical answer is “It doesn’t!”

The City Council needs to be encouraged to trust the County to handle this development responsibly. Glenwood Springs does not need to annex areas just to insure responsible development. Glenwood Springs needs to be responsible to the citizens of Glenwood Springs.

If you want Bigger … don’t show up.

If you want Better … show up and make Glenwood Springs better.
