Diabetic retinopathy is one of the most common causes of blindness, particularly if it isn’t diagnosed in an early stage.

However, some 50 years ago a large study showed that a total plant-based diet could reverse this dreaded complication of diabetes, but most doctors aren’t aware of this study (nutritionfacts.org).

Dr. Feinsinger of Carbondale, who retired in February from Glenwood Medical Associates after 41 years as a family physician, will provide a health tip each Tuesday in the Post Independent. Contact him at gfeinsinger@comcast.net.
