Doing small things can help preserve area’s natural beauty

Dear Editor,I moved to Glenwood Springs to enjoy the beauty of the area. I don’t know how to stop many of the changes that I believe have a negative impact on that beauty. I don’t know how to stop gas companies from drilling on land where they have the rights to drill. I don’t know how to stop “big box” stores from building on land they have gained the right to build on. This I do know, however: I can walk instead of drive whenever possible and conserve gasoline, decrease traffic and reduce pollution; when I cannot walk I can often use public transportation; I can consume less oil, water and electricity; I can shop at locally owned businesses. When I do these small things, I am hopeful that I am helping preserve the beauty that I enjoy.Carol BuickGlenwood Springs
