Don Earl Cox, 79, passed away Aug. 5, 2008, at the Veteran’s Nursing Home in Rifle.

He was born Aug. 27, 1928, in Pea Green to Bower and Freda (Pridy) Cox.

He served in the U.S. Army as an 82nd Airborne Paratrooper, and was one of our nation’s heroes.



Don was a lifelong area resident and worked as a cowpuncher.

He is survived by sons Lyle Cox of Olathe, Wade Cox of Grand Junction, and Argil Cox of White Water; daughters Katy Kilburn of California and Star Betz of Grand Junction; brother-in-law Phil Deleon of Kallispell, Mont.; and eight grandchildren.



Don is preceded in death by his sister, Janie Deleon.

Cremation has taken place, and no services are planned.
