Donald Homes passed away peacefully on Thursday in Carbondale. Born in Cripple Creek, Colorado on October 10, 1936 he was the son of Arthur & Edith Homes. He grew up in Colorado and settled in the Roaring Fork Valley. He retired from the Glenwood Springs High School in 1994 where he was employed as a janitor for many years. He enjoyed walking, astronomy and the company of family and friends. He is preceded in death by Arthur Holmes (Father) Edith Terrell Holmes (Mother) Jack Holmes (Brother) and Delores Rhodes (Sister) Donald is survived by Clement & Charlotte Hughes (Sister) of Carbondale, Ted & Judy Holmes (Brother) of Denver, Betty Holmes (Sister in law) of Denver and numerous nieces & nephews. There will be a celebration of life at the residence of Clement & Charlotte Hughes on August 22, 2010 at 1PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pauline S Schneegas Wild Life Foundation, 5945 CR 346, Silt CO 81652
