After Lonnie’s retirement from the Air Force in 1968, they moved to Glenwood Springs, living there until the children were grown. During that time she worked for Mountain Bell Telephone as an operator.

Around 1985, they moved to DeBeque and to the family homestead. She lived there until her death on Sept. 3, 2009 of a stroke. She enjoyed shopping for antiques, gardening, playing cards, going gambling, and spending time with family and friends.
