Don’t be left out in cold with propane tank

Dear Editor,

I am writing to remind everyone that as of April 2, 2002, all propane tanks 40 pounds and under need to have an OPD valve. This includes barbecue grill-size tanks. An OPD valve is triangular-shaped and is clearly marked with the letters OPD. It is illegal to fill a bottle without this valve.

Also, any size propane tank which is 12 years old or older should be recertified.

I just wanted to let everyone know before cold weather comes so that people will be prepared.

Thanks,

C. Urban
