Don’t give panhandlers your lunch

Dear Editor,

First I want to say I admire Pamela Whittington for her letter in the paper on panhandling.

In the first place, it’s against the law. It makes me mad when I see these guys doing this, because in coming to work in West Glenwood, I’ve seen this same man panhandling on the I-70 off-ramp with all the excuses – I’m a veteran, burned out by the fire – then later he comes where I work and buys beer and cigarettes and lottery tickets. No food.

I’ve seen ladies stop and give him their lunches. What my point is, if disabled people can work, why can’t he?

P.S. Ladies, please don’t give him your lunches.
