Don’t wind up at the end of parade: Get Strawberry Days entries in now

Applications now are available for the 2002 Strawberry Days Parade, sponsored by the Glenwood Springs Chamber Resort Association. This year’s patriotic theme is “Hooray for the Red, White & Blue!” This is the 105th year for the event. Festivities run June 21-23.All parade applications must be received by Friday, June 14. Any late entries will pay a $10 additional fee and be placed at the end of the parade.The parade will honor the good old U.S.A. and many local heroes. Festivities are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. The parade is open to bands, nonprofit and service organizations, commercial floats and political candidates. Entries are subject to a variety of fees. Prizes will be awarded for Grand Marshal as well as for first-, second- and third-place entries in the categories of service, nonprofit and commercial.Strawberry Days floats are limited to 40 feet in length and 13 feet in height.For more parade information or an application, contract Tracey at 945-6589 or tracey@glenwoodchamber.com.The chamber also is recruiting Strawberry Days volunteers. Help is needed in the areas of decorating, setup, cleanup, artisan, food vendor, backstage, parade and the venerable beer garden.All volunteers receive a three-day punch pass to the main stage music entertainment, where some of this year’s headliners include Tony Furtado, Hazel Miller and the Classic Rock All-Stars.
