Douglas (Dean) Pelz

Dean Pelz, of Bloomington, Minn., passed away Dec. 7, 2005. He was 67 years old.Dean and Rebecca “Bec” Carlson were married in August 1989 in Ames, Iowa. He was a longtime band director in Iowa and Colorado. He was an avid cyclist. Dean was an active member of Christ Presbyterian Church of Edina, Minn.Dean taught band for the Re-1 School District from 1995 to 1998. Dean and Bec loved loved the Glenwood Springs area and all the band parents and students.He is survived by his loving wife; daughter Angela (Robert) Gast, of Council Bluffs, Iowa; son Mikael Pelz, of Columbia, Mo.; stepchildren Heidi (James) Bohy, of Carlisle, Iowa, Jon (Karina) Fenderson, of Gillette, Wyo., and Benjamin (Mary) Fenderson, of Lonsdale, Minn.; six grandchildren; sisters Madalyn Staupe Traun, of Minneapolis, and Linda (Bill) Burns, of Lexington, Neb.; brother Larry Pelz, of Phoenix; and many other relatives and friends. A memorial service took place at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at Christ Presbyterian Church, 6901 Normandale Road, Edina, Minn.
