Dr. (Rev.) Jerry William Westcott

The Rev. Jerry Westcott passed away March 9, 2006, at his home in Grand Junction. Jerry was born in Denver Jan. 6, 1939, to Herbert and Laura Ruth Smith. He married Shirley Lantos Aug. 16, 1955, in Denver.Jerry attended the University of Colorado Medical Center and Swedish Medical Center, earning a national registry in Medical Radiological Technology. When he completed training, he moved his family to Glenwood Springs and went to work at the hospital. Jerry attended Bible studies in Dallas, Los Angeles, Indiana, and Glasgow, Scotland. He pastored God’s people in five congregations in four states over four decades, most recently at Monument View Bible Church in Fruita.The Westcotts recently celebrated 50 years of marriage with their three children and many friends.Survivors include his wife; sons Tim and Tom; daughter Rebecca Westcott Hewett; seven grandchildren; brother Gary; adopted in-law children, Lisa, Janet and Steven.Any contribution made in Jerry’s memory should be made to the Slavic Gospel Association for the purchase of Study Bibles in the Russian language, contact the Monument View Bible Church in Fruita.A special time of remembrance and celebration will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Monument View Bible Church in Fruita.
