Drowning victim found, ID’d

The body of the man suspected to have drowned on the Colorado River last week was recovered Friday.The remains have been identified as Dale Michael Petersen of Parachute.A man walking his dog about 5:30 p.m. spotted the body on a sand bar west of Rifle, according to a press release from the Rifle Police department. Petersen was pulled under Tuesday while swimming toward his two brothers, who were floating down the river on an air mattress. His body was found about three miles downstream from where he was last seen.Petersen was not wearing a life jacket.
