“Dear Dad: We wanted to write this letter to let you know how much we love you and just a few of the things we will miss the most about you. We will miss the undying love you showed to our mom. We will miss the pride you showed in everything that meant something to you. You bragged about your friends as if it was a privilege to call them friends and we know there is nothing you wouldn’t do for them if called upon. We will miss your patriotism for this country and all who serve to protect it as you did. We will miss your love of animals, especially the wild horses you worked so hard to protect. We will miss your genuine love for us, our spouses, and our children.

We will miss your ability to tell stories while remembering everything about the people in them, no matter how far in the past they were. Most of all dad, we will miss you. Till we see you again; Save us a spot at the table.”

Memorial services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 28 at 11 a.m., at the Garfield County Fairgrounds Event Center in Rifle.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
