DUI checkpoint on Grand Ave. tonight

GLENWOOD SPRINGS – The precise location of tonight’s sobriety checkpoint was disclosed by Carbondale police chief Gene Schilling on Thursday.

The checkpoint, part of a statewide program called DUI Checkpoint Colorado, will be set up in front of True Value on Grand Avenue in Glenwood Springs, from 10 p.m. Friday until 3 a.m. Saturday.

Schilling said only southbound vehicles will be stopped.

The operation is designed to look for signs of driver intoxication. If there are no signs, drivers will be let go.

If there are signs of intoxication, further investigation will be done and the driver could be arrested.

Police from the Colorado State Patrol, Garfield County Sheriff’s deputies, and police departments from Carbondale to Parachute will help run the checkpoint.
