Eagle man dies on way to Sturgis Rally

EAGLE- Andrew Woods, 35, of Eagle died Wednesday, Aug. 13, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident Aug. 1.

Woods was on his way to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in Sturgis, S.D., with friends when the accident occurred. He was riding northbound on Highway 131 north of Wolcott when another motorcycle wrecked on the road in front of him. Woods tried to avoid the crash, but his motorcycle spun on the wet pavement, then rolled one and a quarter times.

Woods was not wearing a helmet and sustained a severe head injury.

He was taken to Vail Valley Medical Center and then airlifted to Denver Health Medical Center, where he remained in critical but stable condition.

He died as a result of the head injury.

Colorado State Patrol said alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
