Eagles gives thanks to Thanksgiving helpers

Donna Matthews

Dear Editor,

A wonderful meal, wonderful people, great fun and that is pretty much all it takes to have a successful event. And that is just what it was on Thanksgiving Day at the Eagles.

Much appreciated are those members who donated pies and goodies, turkeys and money. A very special thank you to Lupie Gonzales and Shannon Hurst for lending the use of their ovens when we ran out of space in ours. Many thanks to Danny Gonzales and Jeff Harris who have been doing this for 16 years.

A special thanks goes out to the following people who just showed up to help. They are not members of the Eagles, just people who wanted to help with a wonderful event: The Cook Family, Marilyn, Ray, Tia and Steve; Rick Knight; Sarah Costner; Judith Gettinger; Judy Eggenweiler, Judie Condrick; the Noel Family, Jodie, Jackie and Garrett; and Don Locke. Our many thanks to you.

Last, but not least, I must thank the Garfield County Work Release Program for continually helping us to make all of our events better and for sending us Rob, Heath, Chris, Tony, Jim, Mike and Kevin to help with Thanksgiving Day. Thank you to the community for dining with us.
