Ed West, 85, of Glenwood springs passed away Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, at Valley View Hospital after a short illness.
Ed was born Jan. 3, 1928, in Brooklyn, New York. After graduating high school he joined the Army.
He moved to Glenwood Springs in 1963 and fell in love with the area and all it had to offer. He was the owner/operator of West’s End Auto Repair. He spent many hours on the back of a horse hunting and guiding others to do the same. He also loved fishing and boating. He spent a lot of time bobbing around on a boat, tossing a line. He liked to fry up his bounty and feed his friends and neighbors.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Earline; and his children, Kathy (Bud) VanGundy, Arvada; Steve (Mary) West, Naples, FL; Don (Linda) West, Thornton; Mike (Jeannie) West, Arvada; Donna Davis, Zillah, WA; Debbie (Scott) Harman, Gunnison; Earl West, Grand Junction; 14 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Dan West.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013 at 3 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran church, 1630 Grand Avenue in Glenwood Springs.
