Edna Louise Hurst

Mrs. Edna L. Hurst, 94, of El Jebel, passed away Dec. 31, 2006, peacefully in her sleep. Edna was born Dec. 16, 1912, in Bunker Hill, Kan., and moved to Como as a young woman. She led a long and fruitful life as a wife, mother and rancher. She served as the Park County treasurer for 13 years while her husband, Joseph M. Hurst, was the Park County sheriff. Upon her husband’s death, Edna retired in Blue Lake to be with her relatives.She is survived by son Joseph E. Hurst of Blue Lake; grandchildren Mitchell, Berry, Kelly, Abby, Julie, Kimberly, Cassie and Heather; 26 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. Services are planned for Memorial weekend at the Como Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to County Sheriffs of Colorado at 9008 N.
