Jonathan Jay of Glenwood Springs High School has been selected as a 2006 Boettcher Foundation Scholarship recipient.These prestigious awards cover virtually all college expenses for eight semesters at either a public or private four-year college or university within the state as long as the scholar maintains a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.

The Post Independent has four $500 scholarships available to graduating seniors from all Garfield County schools and schools within the Re-1 school district.Applicants must be planning to pursue a degree in a journalism-related field, including graphic arts, photography, and print or broadcast media. Interested students must fill out an application and are required to write a 500-word essay on why they want to pursue a career in journalism.Deadline for essays and applications to the Post Independent is March 31.For more information contact the Post Independent at 945-8515, ext. 517; news@postindependent; or contact your high school.
