“Once Upon a Lunchtime” is a new reading program that pairs second- and third-grade readers with members of the community to provide additional opportunities to read. One lunchtime a week, the child and adult mentor meet for 30 minutes. More adult volunteers are needed for the program at Sopris Elementary School in south Glenwood Springs. To get involved, call Patty Bristol at 384-6106.
The next national test date for the ACT college admission exam is Dec. 9, 2006. The deadline for postmark or online registration is Nov. 3. the late registration deadline is Nov. 16, with an additional $19 fee required for late registration. Students may get registration materials from high school counselors or register online at http://www.actstudent.org.
