The fourth annual District Eight Honor Jazz Band, sponsored by Jazz Aspen Snowmass (JAS), will return to Carbondale February 16-17 with more than 50 teenage jazz musicians in attendance. Students representing middle and high schools from Aspen, Carbondale, Eagle, Summit County, Steamboat Springs and Soroco will participate in two days of intensive jazz training with a faculty of professional musicians chosen by JAS.

The Honor Jazz faculty will be performing for the public at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 16, at Dos Gringos in Carbondale. The public is invited to a performance from the Honor Jazz students at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, at Carbondale High School. Both performances are free. All are encouraged to come out and support jazz music in the Roaring Fork Valley.

Crystal River Elementary School second-grade students invite you to attend their free musical performance of “My Town, My World!” This performance discusses the importance of building community, promoting peace and taking care of our planet. The show begins at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13, at Crystal River Elementary School, 160 Snowmass Drive in Carbondale. For more information, contact Amber Henke at 384-5637.
