The Glenwood Springs Middle School Chair Auction is going full swing with 12 fabulous chairs, including a tribute to the Beatles and a white lacy princess chair complete with a teddy bear and ballet slippers.

The chairs arrived at Alpine Bank in Glenwood Springs Nov. 15, and will be there until Nov. 26, when they’ll move to the U.S. Bank next to Safeway. They’ll move again to the middle school Dec. 3, where the last bids will be accepted until 3 p.m.

Marc Browning’s fifth-grade class has started a schoolwide recycling program at Sopris Elementary School. The recycling program will be featured on The Sopris County Show, broadcast at 8 and 9 a.m.; and 5 and 6 p.m. Nov. 23-25 on Comcast Channel 20.

Colorado Mountain College is celebrating its newest facility, the West Garfield Campus, EnCana Academic Center, with a free grand opening reception from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 1, at the campus located at 3695 Airport Road, near the Garfield County Airport in south Rifle.

Local high school choirs will perform throughout the morning. Tours of the campus and continental breakfast will also be offered.
