Glenwood Springs Elementary School’s fifth-grade Brain Bowl competitors went up against eight other valley schools to finish in second place. Students have been practicing during their lunch recess since Thanksgiving Break.

Glenwood Springs Elementary School is hosting a Family Literacy Night Tuesday, March 4. Registration and book exchange begin at 5 p.m.; spaghetti dinner from 5-6:15 p.m.; workshop from 6:30-7 p.m.; second workshop from 7:15-7:45 p.m.; and prize drawing 8 p.m.

During “I Love to Read Month,” Sopris Elementary School students read for 628,439 minutes, far surpassing the 500,000-minute goal.

Students will be rewarded with ice cream floats and a free book on March 21.

Michael Cowdrey of Glenwood Springs has been named to the University of St. Thomas 2007 fall semester dean’s list.
