Glenwood Lions recognize scholarship recipients The Glenwood Springs Lions Club annually awards college scholarships to deserving local high school students. 2010 recipients were recognized at the recent Lions steak fry and new officer installation. Erin Gorsett, a 2008 graduate of Rifle High School, completed her spring semester of studies in animal science at Montana State University with a 4.0 GPA. This earned her a place on the president’s honor roll. She is here this summer working at the West/Orton ranch and doing an internship at the Pauline Schneegas Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. Keep up the good work, Erin.

James May, dean and provost of St. Olaf College, named Jonathan Cappelli, of Glenwood Springs, to the St. Olaf College dean’s list for the Spring 2010 semester. The dean’s list recognizes St. Olaf students with a semester grade point average of 3.75 or higher on a 4-point scale. Jonathan is a Colorado Rocky Mountain School alum, and graduated from St. Olaf’s Class of 2010 with a B.A. in political science. Jonathan’s parents are Dr. and Mrs. Clifford Cappelli.

Katey J. Barnes of Glenwood Springs received highest honors from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point for spring semester 2009-10. Full-time undergraduates who earned grade points of 3.90 to 4.0 (4.0 equals straight A) are given the highest honors designation.
