Jack Bethel of Carbondale, a Cornell College student, has been elected Student Senate vice president, a position on the Student Senate Executive Council.

The executive council is composed of the president, vice president, academic affairs chair, appropriations chair, organizations chair and student life chair. The body’s primary goals are to oversee the work of the standing committees, to provide recommendations to Student Senate on long-term goals and to help ensure that the Senate’s work is transparent to students.

Executive council terms last until February 2012.

Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park is now accepting applications for its 2011 “Begin a New Adventure” Scholarship for employees. To be eligible, the applicant must have worked at the park at least 200 hours during the 2010 calendar year.

“We continue to be blessed with a great group of dedicated employees,” explained Steve Beckley, who owns Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park with his wife, Jeanne. “Glenwood Caverns is pleased to support their educational pursuits with this scholarship.”

The scholarship will be granted based on merit, with consideration given for number of years of employment with the park and dedication to its mission: making people smile. Applications are available online at http://www.glenwoodcaverns.com/ngc_jobs.html, at the park’s tram base and in area high school counseling offices. The scholarships are due at the tram base by March 31.
